Artist Statement

The use of color palette, texture to induce a predominate tactile value, and the weaving of the free-floating text as shape demonstrative of semantic decentralization are the foundations of my work’s statement. Concrete and objective subject matter, when this variable exists, is obfuscated in the abstraction of form in order to buttress and augment the presence of my main elements.  My work is generated from emotive and visceral precepts while intending development of space for the personal and subjective lives of viewers to shape an interaction with my work.  The methodology of my work is rooted to an atavistic physicality whereby the majority of my work is achieved directly with my hands.  The utilization of brushes, pallet knives, and the other tools of the artist’s enterprise is minimal.  The continued exploration of the medium, the expansion of my knowledge as well as my relationship with the medium, and my endeavor to expand if not redefine the instantiated boundaries of the medium are paramount to my aesthetic.
